Things I do, and things I won't stop doing

So, I think I have a compulsive disorder where I know it's wrong, but I do it anyway. I hit, I bite, and I fuss. Then I get my hand popped. If I can just remember not to do it, I'll be OK.

I can redeem myself and tell you that I can now brush my hair using mommy's brush, and talk on the phone too. My coordination skills are not quite there because the phone or brush end up at the back of my head...but you get the idea. Mom and dad think it's cute.

I am weaned off the bottle almost completely except for my bottle while dad rocks me to sleep. I will let mom and dad know that I need that bottle, can't live without it, until they finally give in and get it for me. Suckers!

Oh, my latest development is pointing i.e. showing whoever is holding me where I want them to go, and what it is that I want them to give me. One little thing I haven't mastered is actually pointing my finger. I sort of have just extend my arm in the direction I want to go and my hand is limp. Oh well, they get the idea.

My favorite toy right now is the one my great aunt Tootie gave to me. It is a tractor that makes lot of noises. It's cool!

I am understanding a lot more everyday. When mommy says, "Do you want to take a bath?", I know exactly what she means and I crawl as fast as I can to the bathtub. I know duck, camel, car, whale, milk, bottle (duh), mommy, daddy, Aunt Joy, Penny, eat, peanut butter, yogurt, phone and the list goes on and on. My verbal skills don't go past "hey" right now.

Something new everyday....

My 1st Birthday

Let me eat cake! I got some of it in my mouth, but most of it went on the floor.

My birthday was my best one yet. This time I did a lot less crying and wasn't nearly as red. My home is a lot better than the hospital, I might add. Boy - what a year it has been! From 8.15lbs at birth to 21 lbs YTD, 6 teeth, nearly walking on my own, sleeping through the night, almost weaned off a bottle...this has been a big year.

First steps

I was over at Grandma's house on Friday, July 3rd, and I took my first steps. I wanted to play with Grandma's dog Pumpkin so I pulled myself up on Grandma's coffee table, and then set my hands free, and walked two steps towards Pumpkin. I did this two more times that day but have not done it since. Maybe I need a dog of my own. Mommy and daddy said not until I am bigger.

I am almost 1 year old. I drink whole milk from a sippy cup, eat most food except for meat and food that is hard to chew since I still have only 6 teeth.

Ok, that's it for now.

Rock on!!

Mommy and Daddy's Lil' Helper

I must say that at 10 months old, I am quite the domesticated little devil. I help mom and dad pick up lint off the floor, I eat the bugs, unload the dishwasher, and mop the floor - all with my hands and belly.

I went swimming for the first time last week. I love to swim. Grandma calls me a "natural" because I kick and move my arms while grandma holds my belly. I don't mind going under water either.

My non-verbal and verbal skills are developing. That's just a fancy way of saying that I do sign language and a talk a lot. Most recently, I learned to sign for "more" when I want more food. I can say "hi" in addition to and "ba-ba".

Oh, my favorite toy is my toothbrush. I play with it while I watch mommy and daddy brush their teeth. Perhaps my favorite activity is pulling up on chairs, toys, really anything that is at my height.

Son of the American Revolution

This weekend, we went to DeRidder, Louisiana to see my great grandfather and great grandmother inducted into the Sons and Daughters of the American Revolution. I am also a Son of the American Revolution, and hope to be inducted some day. I will need my paw-paws birth certificate in order to apply. I think Mom and Dad will help me with that. Speaking of paw-paw, I met him for the first time on Saturday, May 2nd at the farm in DeRidder. He really enjoyed spending time with me and would not put me down. It was really nice to meet him. Here's me with my dad, grandfather, and great-grandfather - 4 generations of Broussards.

Also, this weekend I met my Uncle Jed who was visiting from Warner Robbins, Georgia. He is a lot of fun and looks like dad a little.

I am teething once again. When I teethe, I really don't feel much like eating, but I'll still take my bottle. In fact, I can now sign and say "ba-ba" when I want my bottle.

At nine months, dad lowered my crib so I don't climb out. I figure out how to stand in the crib so now, when I want out, I stand and call for mommy and daddy. I am so proud of myself for standing that I don't even cry when I want out.

Aunt Joy calls me a "cruiser" because I can walk alongside the couch with support. I can also walk while my hands are being held. "Any day now" is what I hear daddy say. Until then, I'll keep eating grass and pulling off the door stoppers.

The weather is getting warmer. It's in the high 80s here and I am working on my tan. I sure like to play outside but must where my spray-on sunscreen and hat.

Well, take it easy. Talk to you later...

Splash Pad and Crawling

On Saturday, April 25th, I went to my neighborhood SplashPad for the first time. I loved the water and playing with the pretty little girls. I can't wait to go swimming next month.
Also, I am now in full crawl mode crawling all around the house.

Bye-Bye

This morning, as mommy was saying "bye-bye" to me at Aunt Joy's house, I said and waved "bye-bye" back. Mommy and Aunt Joy were so happy that I did that. I'll have to do it again since it brought about such excitment.

Oh, I'm over the anxiety stage now and back to playing on my own with no worries. I'm a good help around the house cleaning floors too. That's because I still scoot around or "army crawl" on my belly and pick up the dust bunnies! I am finally catching on to sign language too. I now sign for "bottle" and "all done." I know what the sign for "eat" and "more" is but right now it is easier for me to fuss. I'll get the sign language thing down eventually.

My favorite things to do are play peek-a-boo with mom, stand up with support for balance, chew on my rubber ducky, and play with cousin Penny and the dogs at Aunt Joy's house.

Well, that's all for now.

Bye-bye!

Pull Ups & Push Ups

I have mastered push ups for a while (when I want to scoot or be held); but this morning at Aunt Joy's house, I pulled up to a standing position on Penny's table. I heard Aunt Joy tell mommy on the phone that I have the mentality that I am bigger than I am (whatever that means).

I am definitely in full swing on the anxiety stage of babyhood. What's wrong with wanting to be held, I say? Mom says I need to be able to play on my own like I use to do. I know she's right; but I still prefer cuddling. Maybe I can balance out the two. Until then, I've found a way to get mommy and daddy's attention. I scoot over to the fireplace and bang on the protective screen. Mom tells me to stop because one day it will be hot and I might burn my hand.

Last weekend was Easter. Daddy, Mommy, and I went over to Grandma's house. We went to church on Sunday and got to sit in the front row. Also, we got to bring up the gifts. That was pretty cool. I was a good baby and kept the ladies amused. My favorite toy at Grandma's is her watches which she let's me play with.

Soon I will be crawling, standing, playing with Tupperware, eating Cheerios, and a lot more. Until then, I will take one day at a time. Mommy says I continue to surprise her each day! Oh, I'm 9 months old tomorrow. This time, last July, we were at the hospital.

Standing and Scooting

Just a week before I turned 9 months, I learned to stand at the couch. I definitely need a spotter, but I'm working hard to balance on my own. My main motivation is reaching for the remote control, or anything that I'm not supposed to touch. Lately, I really prefer standing than sitting. I'm not too sure about this crawling thing. I don't mind scooting around, but I think I'd like walking much better. So, until my little legs get stronger, I'm going to continue to practice standing and reaching for mommy...or the remote control.
Here's me playing with Sedona at Aunt Joy's house. We're buds... One day when I can verbalize it, I am going to ask mommy and daddy for a dog.
I now have six teeth: four on top; two on bottom.

Sitting from a laying position

On Sunday, April 5th, I went from a my belly to a sitting up position. Mom, dad, and I had a good time over the weekend. We went to the North Shore Park in The Woodlands and had a picnic. I really like my stroller that we take around the lake. We also fed the ducks leftover Subway. I have my two front teeth coming in this week too. The whole process is going pretty well. The weather is getting warmer and warmer. I hope we can go swimming soon!

8 months

Here's me sitting on a park bench after church. I now weigh 19lbs.
Although I haven't started crawling yet, I can get on all-fours and move back and forth. This weekend I even tried to extend one arm, but I fell on my face. I'm good about not fussing when I fall.

Last night I had a bad experience with teething. Although I already have my bottom two teeth, my next tooth that is coming through hurts a lot. To help me feel better, mom and dad tried to give me some Infant Motrin last night. However, I really don't like the medicine so when mom tried to deposit it in my mouth, I continuously blew so no medicine could get in. Mommy finally calmed me down by singing "Hush-a-Bye Baby."

The weather is really warming up so we are spending lots of time at the park. I like the wind on my face as I ride in my stroller.

Last Thursday, Aunt Kerrie and my cousins Hayden and Tyler came over to play. I sure like my boy cousins. Hayden let me chew on his arm. Grandma also came over with her easter bunny ears on. Then, right before bedtime, Mommy surprised Grandpa and all three boys got to skype with him.

Aunt Joy takes good care of me while mommy and daddy are at work. She teaches me sign language to help me communicate when I'm eating. The first sign I do now is when I'm "all done." For now, I'm all done with this blog. Talk to you soon!

My latest

I make my mommy and daddy's heart melt now when I reach for them to pick me up.

On Sunday, we went to the Fellowship of The Woodlands church. It was my first experience in a protestant church. Although the music was loud, I slept most of the time. Dad, mom, and I will go to that church on a frequent basis, and go to St. Edward Catholic Church once a month so mom can receive the eucharist.

Jackson's 7 month development profile

Hello world! Can you believe I am 7 months old already? Mommy realized that she just can't stop me from being a baby. As you can see, I no longer have my reddish-brown comb over. I'm just not a newborn anymore. I can sit up on my own, roll over, I babble like a Broussard, grab for my toys and put them (and everything) in my mouth, eat sweet potato, squash, mango and other fruits, yogurt, oatmeal, and tofu! I can hold my bottle with one hand now. Recently, I learned to reach for mommy. My first two teeth came in this month. Teething has been a painless process, for mom and dad, so far. I have had a couple ear infections, runny nose, and a cough. For the record, I DO NOT like mommy and Aunt Joy wiping my nose or giving me medicine through a medicine dropper. They tried to trick me by giving me the bottle first, but I wised up. I'm no fool. Life is good...no complaints!

6 months old

I now weigh 18 pounds and I'm in the 75th percentile for everything. At my 6-month check-up, Dr. Elahee asked mommy and daddy if I was rolling over back to front and front to back. They said yes. Dr. Elahee said that pretty soon I should start saying constanents. Daddy informed her that I aleady am. I say, "mmm, buh-buh-buh, da-da." So, I am on track developmentally.

Also, I am now able to stay sitting up unassisted. Mom and dad are so proud. I like to put everything and anything in my mouth.

Food on the otherhand, is a little more of an adjustment for me. I like oatmeal with applesauce warmed up. I now drink water out of a sippy cup after each meal. Have you ever had organic whole milk plain yogurt? It is simply disgusting and I let mommy know it!

I have a double ear infection but I'm being a trooper. I take my antibiotics like a big boy, but it has given me diariha which caused my bum to be sore. Mommy got me a perscription and it is healing just find. I still laugh and play. The benedryl that I was on made me hyper. Quite fun!
